A declaration
:- mode ModeSpec, ..., ModeSpec.
where each ModeSpec is a mode spec, has no effect whatsoever, but is accepted for compatibility reasons. Such declarations may be used as a commenting device, as they express the programmer's intention of data flow in predicates.
